Legal Leaders: Commercial vs legal advice in-house

Marking the fifth year of our special content partnership with Thomson Reuters, we are excited to bring you our 2025 Legal Leaders webinar series.

  • Event date: 23 April 2025 02:00 PM
  • Event type: Webinar
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Provided by: The Centre for Legal Leadership and Thomson Reuters

This is the second of four virtual webinars, each focusing on a theme relevant to the career journey and inner workings of an in-house legal team.

Demonstrating a legal teams' value within the company is a core focus.

The unique helicopter view across so many key departments is a necessity in enabling your advice to be highly sought after and allows you to apply your first-class legal skills.  But care needs to be taken in ensuring you clearly state which 'hat' you have on and is clearly understood by those receiving it.

Join two senior in-house legal leaders who will share how they manage this balancing act and learnings from their careers.

Leading the discussion will be our guest presenters:

Natasha Ballantine
Natasha is General Counsel at Foundry, a global software developer for the Media and Entertainment industry.

She has also held senior positions at J.P. Morgan and in her advisory and consultancy roles. Prior to being in-house, Natasha worked in private practice at top US and UK law firms for 7 years, primarily in banking and asset finance.

Luscinia Brown-Hovelt
Recently Interim General Counsel and Company Secretary at Marie Curie UK.

Luscinia is an experienced Director of Legal & Compliance/GC with over 18 years’ experience of working in-house as a commercial lawyer, across various sectors including catering and hospitality, retail and manufacturing. Luscinia has worked as part of a larger team, as sole in-house counsel and built and led a team of 8 lawyers and non-lawyers.
