Now in its 4th year, the CLL Development Programme is an interactive programme built around all those matters that matter to in-house lawyers and covering skills, management, leadership, strategy, relationships and career. It’s open to all in-house lawyers, wherever you work and whatever your level of experience.
Each session emphasises a different aspect of the in-house lawyer’s role and career and we encourage participants to bring along any issues of particular interest to them.
In this session we will consider what is a 1st class service and whether it’s the same as gold-plating and how you can take a more structured and planned approach to providing and improving legal services within your organisation. This will include developing a legal strategy, business planning, prioritising work and avoiding firefighting, managing expectations, measuring performance and articulating your value.
Whether you are a sole in-house lawyer or leading, or part of, a large team, you will want to provide an excellent legal service to your in-house ‘clients’. At the same time, you are faced with different (and sometimes conflicting) demands and expectations and there never seems enough time to take a step back to consider why and how you are doing things.
Discussion points will include:
- Legal strategy and business planning;
- Prioritising the work;
- Managing clients’ expectations;
- Measuring performance and articulating value.
The sessions last for 90 minutes and start at 8.30 am to fit in with our participants’ schedules. They take place under Chatham House rule and we don’t record the sessions or publicise attendance.
Attendance is free. You can attend all the sessions or any combination of them.
