Now in its 4th year, the CLL Development Programme is an interactive programme built around all those matters that matter to in-house lawyers and covering skills, management, leadership, strategy, relationships and career. It’s open to all in-house lawyers, wherever you work and whatever your level of experience.
Each session emphasises a different aspect of the in-house lawyer’s role and career and we encourage participants to bring along any issues of particular interest to them.
In this session, we will look at those skills and behaviours needed to be really effective, including core legal skills, communication, persuading others and the importance of personal resilience. We will also consider the importance of trust and how you can build it and the importance of knowing and demonstrating your value to your ‘clients’ and your organisation.
Of course, you want to do as good a job as you can for your in-house ‘clients’ and also be able to progress your career in line with your personal ambitions. You know that you need to get the law right and provide accurate and timely legal advice but are there other things that you need to do well to be effective in your role? And, if so, what are they?
Discussion points will include:
- The skills and behaviours needed to be effective, trusted and valued;
- Influencing and persuading;
- Communication;
- Personal resilience.
The sessions last for 90 minutes and start at 8.30 am to fit in with our participants’ schedules. They take place under Chatham House rule and we don’t record the sessions or publicise attendance.
Attendance is free. You can attend all the sessions or any combination of them.
