Launching at this event will be TCLP’s Net Zero Toolkit.
The Net Zero Toolkit contains clauses, practical tools and guides to assist legal, business and sustainability professionals to deliver to their net zero and climate ambitions.
The toolkit will offer firms, businesses, local authorities and governments alike, concrete contractual pathways to achieving net zero goals.
Contracts are used every day to ensure that organisations hit their targets on price, value, quality, service provision and specification. In fact, contracts are so ubiquitous, it is easy to forget what powerful tools they represent.
Whilst regulation and legislation are important means of achieving Net Zero, they are not the only means. Contracts are bespoke, nimble and negotiable documents with a very familiar and direct enforcement mechanism.
Becky Annison, Director of Engagement at the The Chancery Lane Project will be talking about:
- facilitating and promoting climate conscious drafting;
- the possibilities that contracts offer to get from a Net Zero target to a meaningful and delivered carbon reduction;
- the importance of a partnering approach to green contracting; and
- case studies on organisations already using climate conscious drafting and how they achieved this.
Becky trained in a city law firm and spent 12 years as an In-house lawyer at a large multi-national construction company before spending time as a senior editor at Practical Law working on Brexit, Recessions, Climate Change and Pandemics. She is currently one of the hosts on Thomson Reuter's legal podcast, The Hearing.
