The Future of Regulation Forum 2025 Launch
The regulatory environment is evolving at pace, driven by a convergence of complex risks, rising public expectations and a renewed focus on responsible business practices.
The Future of Regulation Forum is a quarterly, invite-only series, hosted with our friends at RPC, bringing together senior general counsel, in-house legal leaders and regulators to debate how regulation must adapt to shape markets that are resilient, innovative and trusted.
Through these high-level forums, you will also build a strong network with like-minded individuals, each bringing their personal expertise and unique insights to the discussion.
This rare opportunity provides not only professional connections but also encourages collaborative learning, idea exchange and long-term partnerships that can significantly enhance your career growth and development.
In a series of candid, Chatham House Rule interactive roundtables, we will explore how regulation can strike the right balance between enabling growth and addressing systemic risks.
Each session provides a space for collaborative, high-level discussions on regulatory change, risk management and corporate governance.
This Forum is open to in-house General Counsel, Heads of Legal, Senior Counsel, Regulatory and Compliance decision-makers from all sectors.
Dates and session themes
Is ‘light touch’ regulation possible or even desirable? 18 June - 8.30 to 10am
Once a symbol of market-friendly policy making, light-touch regulation now faces growing scepticism in an increasingly complex and risk-conscious world. Has this approach become a relic of the past, or are there still environments where it can safely drive innovation?
In this session, we will test the boundaries of proportionality, challenge assumptions about “better regulation,” and assess how regulators and businesses can work together to balance flexibility with responsibility in today’s volatile climate.
Beyond cyber: The evolving regulatory lens on resilience, supply chains, and systemic risk 24 September - 8.30 to 10am
Cyber threats may dominate headlines, but regulators are increasingly focusing on resilience as a broader systemic issue – from digital infrastructure and critical supply chains to third-party dependencies. As operational risks escalate, businesses must demonstrate that their governance, legal frameworks and risk management are robust enough to meet growing regulatory expectations.
This session will explore how regulators are re-calibrating their approach and how businesses are adapting to safeguard both resilience and trust.
The enforcement horizon: Is the UK entering a new era of regulatory assertiveness? 19 November - 8.30 to 10am
Across sectors, regulators are signalling a shift towards more assertive enforcement, driven by public and political pressure to hold organisations accountable. Whether in financial services, ESG, data protection, or competition law, businesses are facing heightened scrutiny and an increasing risk of regulatory intervention.
This session will explore what is behind this shift, how enforcement priorities are evolving and how organisations can strengthen governance, risk management and regulatory engagement in preparation for a more challenging enforcement environment.
