Anthony Inglese CB

Anthony is a consultant to a City law firm and an honorary professor of law.

He trains in-house lawyers on a range of subjects, including influence, relationship building and personal and team development. He chairs an international pro bono legal charity, chairs recruitment boards for senior roles in a regulator and profiles senior in-house barristers for Counsel magazine.

Previously, Anthony worked in the civil service for 38 years until 2014. He held roles in seven departments and was head of legal in five. These included HM Revenue & Customs, the then Department of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Defence. He led the government’s legal profession's training strategy and, for more than 20 years, trained all new legal recruits in the role of in-house lawyer. Anthony was an active Training Principal to around 100 trainee solicitors and pupil barristers during his civil service career.

Anthony has deep experience in leading large in-house legal teams. His expertise spans client relationship building, resource management, smart working, ensuring high quality legal work and recruiting, developing and appraising lawyers.Â
