Paul qualified as a barrister before moving into industry and has over 20 years’ experience as an in-house lawyer.
As of 2020, Paul is General Counsel and Company Secretary at Helios Towers plc.
Prior to Helios Towers, Paul was Director of Legal and Company Secretary at RAC Motoring Services, a position which he started in July 2018.
Paul was Head of Legal Affairs at Home Retail Group plc, parent company of Argos, Homebase and Habitat and the UK’s largest home and general merchandise retailer, where he was a member of the Group senior leadership team and led a team of lawyers and compliance professionals that supported and advised Group companies on all areas of commercial law, regulatory compliance and risk management. Paul played a key role leading the in-house legal team as it dealt with the sale of Homebase to Wesfarmers for £340m and the subsequent £1.4billion acquisition of Home Retail Group by J Sainsbury plc.
Paul has spoken frequently at external conferences on issues that are pertinent to in-house teams, including managing litigation globally and commoditising the commercial contracting process.
