Cutting the cost of conflict

Getting disputes resolved and getting the result you want

  • Event date: 09 October 2018 06:30 PM
  • Event type: Seminar
  • Duration: 2.5 hours
  • Provided by: Hildebrand Mediation and The Centre for Legal Leadership

We were delighted to host this free event on Tuesday 9 October with Andrew Hildebrand, a leading UK independent commercial mediator, with previous roles heading up business and legal divisions for media and entertainment companies, including Channel 4 and FilmFour.

For more information on Hildebrand Mediation, please find the website here.

The evening looked at how to resolve troublesome disputes quickly and cost-effectively: what to do on the day to get the result you want - and pitfalls to avoid; and how to use an independent neutral at a much earlier stage to prevent a dispute escalating and get the relationship back on track.

Andrew also discussed the cost of getting it wrong and the impact on projects, relationships and reputations.

On the panel were:

  • Kent Dreadon, Group General Counsel at Ascential Plc as one of our panel members. Previously Kent was Deputy General Counsel and Director of Legal Affairs at Telefónica UK Limited (O2).  Prior to that, Kent was a litigator in private practice both in the UK and New Zealand where he was involved in various forms of dispute resolution.
  • Paul Boyle, Group Deputy GC at Serco. Paul has been in-house for over seven years and has experience of mediation in different respects from previous roles.

The event took place at our office near Tower Bridge and was chaired by Paul Bentall, ex GC Financial Ombudsman Service and CLL Advisory Panel member.

Please find a viewpoint from Andrew here, regarding dispute resolution.
