Former Legal Director in RPC’s Corporate Team, James specialises in regulatory, hedge funds and retail funds and advises investment fund management businesses. James moved in-house in 2009, taking up the role of General Counsel and Head of Compliance at RWC Partners. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy CEO of MSK Capital Partners, where, as well as heading up the legal and compliance functions, he was responsible for finance, HR, operations, IT and infrastructure. 

Consequently, James has deep experience across UCITS, open-ended onshore and offshore vehicles, closed-ended listed vehicles, structured products and managed accounts and the CF10 and CF11 (Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer) roles for FCA regulated firms. 

At RPC, James expanded his expertise to include blockchain and cryptocurrencies. He advised on – and writes about – a range of issues in this innovative and fast-moving field, including in relation to ICO (and pre-ICO fundraising), crypto-exchanges and regulatory analysis.
